A Very Pleasant Surprise

// START REVIEW

0. Hello.

1. Great Points:
* Concept. You brought a very nice, original concept to the table. Very reminiscent of that game in wii, I think it was Amaterasu. Very nice job here!

2. Good Points:
* Execution. Coupled with a great concept, the execution produced a very pleasing result. The game is not very tiring as a result although...
* Graphics. Very simple. Very nice. Well drawn and the color scheme is not bad on the eyes.
* SFX. Very nice. Suits every situation.

3. (Not so) Good Points:
* Repetetiveness. The concept and replayability gets tainted by lack of features. Not really a bad point.

4. Very good job. Good luck on the competition!

0. Hello, O Masters of Newgrounds.

1. First of all, I guess this review will go unnoticed as many others do but for the sake of commending a job well done I'm going to leave one here.

2. Great Points:
* SFX. Very crisp, very pleasing to the ears. Well-timed and well-placed. How I wish I had the same resource for my submission in last year's Madness Day! The SFX in itself is to die for (in this case, to kill for).

3. Good Points:
* Physics. The game's physics was, as always, masterfully done. I expected nothing less from the creator of such games as Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers.
* Music. Good leaders do not tell their followers or their subordinates to do something that they themselves are not willing to do. Tom's constant urging of using the resources available in the audio portal are often times left unwarranted. Let this be a lesson to people who don't heed his advice.
* Gameplay. The gameplay is great. Very campy. The limitless ammo gives the player freedom to shoot just anything they want as opposed to games that have an ammo bar. Although, the limited ammo proves to be a factor in the difficulty of a game, I think this game could do without it, considering that this game's aim is purely for entertainment.
* Graphics. As always, the graphics were done extremely well. I expected nothing less from Mindchamber. Although, I have to admit, I expected more. (Considering his caliber as an artist)

4. (Not so) Good Points:
* Lagging Issues. I adjusted the quality of the game and everything, my terminal just couldn't handle the game so well. I am not placing blame on my computer because similar games such as the Thing Thing series performs remarkably well with similar settings.
* The Game Itself. It's understandable that with everything else in the table, this game was just a side project for the creators but in comparison to previous games that have been done by Tom and Mindchamber, this game really doesn't stand out from the rest. The AI were pretty weak, the game had limited enemies and shyed away from its premise of run n' gun and delved deeper on the look and feel and the story.

5. Good job guys.

0. Hello Matt.

1. Good Points:
* Graphics. The art is great! The colors mix well, the shadows are well-placed, and the lineart is awesome. This should have been a great point but considering the wide use of the style nowadays...
* Music. Very suitable for the situation. Nice touch on the Kill Bill sound at the start, while scrolling through enemies Mortal Kombat style.
* SFX. Very well-timed. Very well-placed. Very good job!
* Animation. Smooth as silk. Very irresistable. I love it! Could compare to many other movies in the portal.

2. (Not so) Good Points:
* Gameplay. Inspired by Final Fantasy? The "quick draw" gameplay could get limited replayability but this is a good, original effort though. I just feel that the gameplay made this game very limited.

3. Good day.

0. Hello Coolio-Niato!

1. Great Points:
* Gameplay. A cool twist on basic ai, this game is a very interesting find. A very interesting game indeed!
* Graphics. Very cute robot, I can't stand it! (In a good way) Maybe if you would add more animation on it, it would be even cuter but it's great enough as it is.

2. Good Points:
* Music. This game has a very good selection. Not hard on the ears and very suitable for the theme of the game.
* Animation. The animation is very crisp. This game has animation better than many games on the portal. Good job!

3. (Not so) Good Points:
* SFX (or lackthereof). A few SFX wouldn't hurt this game at all.
* Difficulty. Not very challenging. Interesting though but not very challenging. The tutorial is a big help too.
* Limited features. Not really a bad point but maybe additional features likes opposition, projectile firing, loops for the program, conditions, items, etc.)

4. Great job! This game really made my day!

0. Hello.

1. Great Points:
* Gameplay. I haven't played much of the "retro" arcade games so I rank this game's gameplay high. For me, it's a very great take on the capacity of classic arcade games.

2. Good Points:
* SFX. The gun sounds are very well-timed. Good job on this one.
* Difficulty. Very challenging. I found it though that when you get used to the controls, the game flows very smoothly. Maybe because I was using my laptop's mouse but I still think the game is very challenging with a regular mouse.

3. (Not so) Good Points:
* Graphics. With an extended playing time, the neon green screen kind of burns the retinas. Though the game is fun to play, it's very unadvisable to play without taking breaks.
* Physics. At first I found the physics commendable, then I found it good, but then I found a couple of glitches. The character gets killed of even though it landed on the ground without spikes or cacti.

4. Bad Points:
* Music. The background music was good... for about the first 10 loops. Which lasts about 5 seconds each. The music was god awful, better that the SFX I used on my own flash though so...

5. Good day.

0. Hello.

1. Good Points:
* Gameplay. The gameplay is very interesting. The game itself is very captivating.
* SFX. Well-placed. Well-timed. Although..
* Graphics. Simplistic but does the job quite well.

2. (Not so) Good Points:
* SFX. Very repetetive.
* Features. Different cars could have used different features.
* Difficulty. With the exception of Level 31, from Level 18 onwards the game became very easy.

3. Bad Points:
* Background Music. Very annoying when playing at a prolonged time, to the point that it hurts ones ears. Better of without this.

4. Good day.

0. Hello.

1. Good Points:
* Gameplay. Very well-executed. No glitches found so far, everything is just good.
* Graphics. Rather simplistic and does not set the mood for the story but it's good nonetheless.
* Sound. Well-timed but rather generic though.
* Story. Goes well with the theme.

2. (Not so) Good Points:
* Overall. Kind of too generic. The game itself is fun to play although it seems that there are many others like this out in the market, only better.

3. Good Day.

0. Hello.

1. Good Points:
* SFX. Very well-timed, suitable for all the situations and very crisp! The explosion sounds are very convinvcing. Very fitting for the game. It matches the graphics quite well.
* Graphics. Very simplistic but serves its purpose quite well. Just goes to show that you don't need very complex graphics to sell a game. Good job!
* Level Design. Though I don't have favorite level in particular, I found that the levels are very well thought of. The difficulty is progressive and the earlier levels really prepare you for the more difficult ones.

2. (Not so) Good Points:
* Music (or lackthereof). The game could have used some background music to rouse more interest for it.
* Story (or lackthereof). It wouldn't hurt for the game to have even a bit of a storyline in it.

3. Good day.

0. First of all, let me just say that this game is a very pleasant surprise.

1. Great Points:
* SFX and Music. Very pleasing to the ears. Selling point of the game. Good job on this one. I was very impressed on how you blended the sounds well. Very suited for every situation and very well-timed.

2. Good Points:
* Gameplay. The variety in gameplay separates this from any normal point and click shooting game.
* Story. Most people make games and not include a story. Hard work and it shows.
* Coloring and Graphics. I wasn't too keen on the graphics but the color scheme was very nice. Very pleasing on the eyes.

3. Great job!

0. Hello.

1. Good Points:
* Concept. Very innovative. The concept gives a very refreshing feel to shooter games.
* Gameplay. Very challenging. I was really caught off guard at the immense difficulty that 'Insane' brought. I thought 'Hard' was going to be a walk in the park, bou was I wrong.

2. (Not so) Good Points:
* Lack of surprise. It gets tiring with prolong play maybe adding a few more elements to the game would increase replayability.

3. Good day.

Thanks for your review, I'm glad you enjoyed the concept and thought the game had some good points as well as it gives me encouragement to make a sequel or possibly more games in the "Aqua Bots" series
